Teas & Tinctures

Collection: Teas & Tinctures

Making tea is an ancient ritual and something you can easily incorporate into your daily routine. Teas can be a simple infusion or a stronger infusion called a deconcoction, which is a stronger brew steeped for longer. We have green teas and herbal teas. Black teas are coming soon!

Tinctures are an age old remedy too that is also an infusion. Herbs are infused into an alcohol medium. We use a grain alcohol that is made from locally grown grain and the alcohol is processed here in Edmonton. So our tinctures are not gluten-free. If you would like information on gluten-free tinctures, reach out and we can help you make your own at home.

What's the difference in taking a tea or tincture?

Tinctures differ from tea infusions in the medium that have infused in, but also how to take them. They are more concentrated and only are taken in 1-3ml/ up to 3 times a day. Teas are more diluted and can be taken by the cup or two a day.

How long does it take it to work?

Teas and tinctures are slow, often gentle medicine, that will act on the body over time. Tinctures can bypass the digestion an as an alcohol are absorbed directly into the bloodstream. Teas go through our digestive tract and out into the body. We usually suggest trying a tincture for a full moon cycle to see the full effects. This aligns with Ayurvedic thinking as well in that it takes approx. 28 days for whatever we have digested to go down through all the different tissue layers of the body and be incorporated into our being.
