After sending my kids back to in-person school and seeing their dry scaly hands from all the hand-sanitizer use, I was determined to help them. I gave them balms, oils to take in their backpacks, but they weren't using it very much, not because they didn't see the benefit, but that they had a hard time remembering. I couldn't figure out why at first, then I realized one thing we tend to put aside as adults. It's got to be fun to get them to keep using it!
What is a skin stick?
Much like a lip balm, but firmer due to a higher concentration of beeswax. You rub it onto your hands and it will help soften, soothe, and protect dry skin. In our zero-waste cardboard tubes, they are an easy way to apply nourishment throughout your day that supports your acid mantle and skin microbiome.
Why are they glittery?
My little girls and I crafted this soothing skin stick with nourishment and fun in mind. They wanted something soothing that smelled like joy and was fun to put on!! standard glitter is awful for the environment, but we found some eco-glitter we love that is 100% plastic-free, and biodegradable! This adds an element of fun. Because we have to keep our hands healthy, so why not make it fun, right?!
This is a giveback project of ours that will be donating $5 from every skin stick towards extra costs for PPE in schools.
Ingredients
- Glitter Girls Unicorn Sparkle Skin Stick
Olea europaea (Extra-virgin olive) oil,* Cera alba (Canadian beeswax)*, Butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter*, Picea glauca (Spruce) resin extract*, Eco-glitter, essential oils of: Citrus Sinensis (Sweet orange)*, Thymus Mastichina (Marjoram)*, and Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli)*, * = organic and/or wild-harvested.
Packaging
0.5 oz cardboard tube. More than 3 times the size of a standard lip balm plastic tube. Super long-lasting! Peel off the label and compost or recycle the tube when you are done. Zero waste and toxin-free.
